Tips to help you determine what to send or bring in:

"Hallmarks" are stamped imprints on the jewelry that indicate Karat; they typically are stamped on
the inside of rings and on other inconspicuous surfaces, such as the clasps of chains or earing
backs.  These are usually "10k", "14k", "18k", "22k".  A "GF" or "1/10" hallmarks indicates
gold-filled or plated which is very low value.

You can get an approximate weight by using a small kitchen scale.

The jewelry you send to NorthWest Jewelers will be melted and the pure gold will be recovered
If a piece of jewelry has sentimental value, you should keep it!

Costume jewelry is often gold plated and has a very low value. A simple way to test whether a
piece is plated is to scratch it a few times with an emery board and put a drop or two of white
vinegar on the surface. If it turns color it's plated.
